America: One Giant Reality TV Show

This is the true story (true story)….Of social justice warriors, Nazis, celebrity protesters, Internet trolls and regular ass people….Picked to live in a country…And have their whole lives put on social media. Find out what happens when people stop being polite and start getting real…The Real World America!

That’s right, we’re officially one giant reality TV show! Welcome to the United States in 2017. And leading the way is Donald Trump, which is fitting since he’s one of the biggest and most polarizing reality TV stars of all-time. If the current state of America surprises you please stop, take a step back, and think about our history. We created reality TV. From The Real World, to the Kardashians, to the Real Housewives…all products created in the good ole’ US of A. So it shouldn’t surprise you that our President is the guy who fired Lil Jon from The Apprentice or the fact that Nazis are making a coming back. We LOVE our drama in America. We soak it up so much that Jersey Shore is making another comeback.

Today’s America is just a microcosm of its citizens. We’re a dramatic group, who loves self indulgence, being petty and never holding back our opinions. I’m just as guilty as the next American. Hell, I have such an ego I’m writing a damn blog about it and will be checking my phone for the next 24 hours to see how many times it’s liked on Twitter. But I think its time we all take a step back for a moment.

So put down those phones, close those laptops, and pause your Netflix binge. Now do something crazy…go outside. I know it sounds absurd, but just do it. Go for a walk, hop on your bike, or start planting a garden. I don’t care what you do, but get your ass outside and enjoy some fresh air. We live in one of the most beautiful countries on the planet. With a geography that’s as diverse and interesting as the citizens who inhabit it. So embrace that shit fam!

And while you’re enjoying your peaceful walk just remember…YOU created today’s America. YOU gave attention to Donald Trump. YOU quoted his tweets time and time again. YOU went on Facebook and shared a video of a pro Nazi rally that had maybe 200 people, but now is viral because of your outrage. YOU didn’t have the balls to vote for someone besides the 2 party traditional candidates. YOU felt the need to tweet, Facebook, Instagram, and Snap every little thought that popped into your brain, instead of keeping it within. YOU created this divided America. But I’m not here to chastise because I’m just as guilty as the next person. But we just need to accept it.

Just like we need to accept this isn’t Germany in 1933. Nazis are NOT going to overtake America. And we also need to accept that Muslim jihadists are not going to overtake Washington and create a super caliphate. C’mon on America, stop being the dramatic drunk girl at 3 AM. Sure we have lots of problems, but we’ve also come a long way. Open a history book sometime, it’ll do wonders. And please stop labeling everyone and everything. Life is not black and white, it’s more of a tannish/grey, think Pitbull’s skin complexion. So put your damn phone down and stop creating more drama with a tweet that forces people to pick sides on every little issue.

The truth is that most of us do get along. I see it every day when I walk across the street to the Venice Beach basketball courts. I see people of all colors, ages, and genders playing pick up basketball together. Now they’re usually shitty basketball players, who whine too much and call everything a foul, but’s not the point. They can play a basic game together and make it work just fine. Just like the people in this country can make it work. So stop reading my blog and go outside. But make sure you hit that RT or share button because I’m an American and I need online validation from strangers!
